Nelson takes 3rd in talent contest
Josie Nelson of Alexandria placed third overall in the Minnesota State Fair amateur talent contest.
Josie Nelson of Alexandria placed third overall in the Minnesota State Fair amateur talent contest. She qualified for two semi-finals in the Minnesota State Fair talent contests, participating in both the County Fair Talent Contest and the Amateur Talent Contest.
These two contests combine for the finals on the state fair grandstand, each sending their best acts to compete. Nelson won first place in the Amateur Talent Contest semi-finals where she played her guitar and sang her original song, “Be Yourself.” That win qualified her to be among seven preteens to perform in the grandstand finals on September 5.
This was the second year in a row that Nelson made it to the grandstand stage. This year, she came home with the third place trophy from the finals.
Nelson is 11 years old and a 6th grader at Voyager Elementary School in Alexandria. She is the daughter of Brian and Linda Nelson and the granddaughter of Mike and JoAnn Perry and Dean and Lois Nelson, all of Alexandria.
