Blizzard hockey: Resch, Williams in NAHL ShowcaseThe two Alexandria players will play for college and professional scouts.
Alexandria Blizzard players will have a chance to impress plenty of scouts when they take to the ice at the North American Hockey League’s (NAHL) eighth annual Showcase Tournament in Blaine this Wednesday through Saturday.
Plenty of college and professional scouts will be on hand at the Schwan Super Rink to catch some of the best players in the NAHL. More than 100 players from across Minnesota will be on the ice with a chance to showcase their talents. Included in that group are the Blizzard’s and Alexandria natives Tyler Resch and Thomas Williams.
The Blizzard has a total of 14 Minnesota natives. Alex Altenbernd, Jeff Bergh, Nick Christenson, Alex Fons, Josh Gaughan, Jimmy Kruger, Craig Lindegard, Chase Loken, Jacob Meyers, Michael Pieper, Zach Wilkinson and Steve Zierke join Resch and Williams as players hoping to leave an impression.
The NAHL Showcase is widely considered one of the most well attended and heavily scouted hockey tournaments in all of North America. The event traditionally attracts 5,000 people, including more than 200 college and professional scouts.
Daily tickets are $8 for students/seniors and $15 for adults. Tournament passes are $20 for students and seniors and $50 for adults. Children six and younger get in for free.
Alexandria opens up against Topeka at 8 p.m. tonight. For more details on the tournament, including a complete schedule, visit www.NAHLShowcase.com.
