Boys' soccer: Cardinal boys fall to Moorhead Spuds 1-0
The Alexandria boys’ soccer team could not hold onto a 1-0 lead against Moorhead last Thursday as the Spuds handed the Cardinals a 2-1 loss at Lincoln Field.
Senior forward Jon Lewis got Alexandria on the board first in the 27th minute. He got on the end of a through ball and sent the ball past a charging keeper to take a 1-0 advantage into the half.
The second half belonged to Moorhead. The Spuds finally took advantage off a throw in in the 51st minute. The ball was tossed into the penalty area as an unmarked Moorhead player tapped the ball in to make it a 1-1 game.
That’s how things went into the final minute. With 30 seconds left, the Spuds collected a ball and sent it in for a dramatic win.
