Cross country: WCA's Toms defends Morris Early Bird title
West Central Area senior Kyle Toms defended his Morris Early Bird cross country title Monday, finishing the boys’ varsity race in 17:12, leading his squad to a sixth place finish in the 18-team field.
Toms was followed by his brother, Alex, a freshman, who finished 13th. Senior Neil Hyttsten was 42nd, 8th grader Jacob Rakoczy 62nd, senior Carson Hunter 65th, senior Bryan Starner 68th, senior Tyler Severance 70th and senior Luke LaValley 79th.
The Knight girls’ team had to run incomplete after senior Megan Andreason dropped out with a knee injury. She had been leading the field for the first half-mile.
Senior Tee Rudnitski was 28th in 19:13, while freshman Ashton Blair ran a 19:30 for 36th, freshman Holly VanKempen was 41st in 19:43 and freshman Mikayla Stark was 51st in 20:27.
