Letter - Upset with YMCA garage sale

I was one of the many angry people that got up very early this morning, Saturday, July 24 for the YMCA Garage Sale in Alexandria.

To the editor:

I was one of the many angry people that got up very early this morning, Saturday, July 24 for the YMCA Garage Sale in Alexandria. We were there before 7 a.m., along with many, many other people. The parking lot was full of people who, like me, anticipated this sale. What we found was the sale was picked clean of all the good items the night before by a chosen few.

My husband and I stopped by the night before to see what they had; we were turned away because they said no one was allowed in because they were busy marking items.

I believe the pre-sale was a very bad decision on behalf of the YMCA management. You do not snooker people in our area and expect them to support you. My husband and I planned to become members. We got up very early to support the YMCA in their effort to raise funds. We have now decided we will go to Fergus Falls to join. I feel the Alexandria YMCA owes the community a big apology to all those who got up very early on a Saturday morning,
