Two crashes last week send two to the hospital

Two separate crashes last week sent two women – one from Coon Rapids and the other from Osakis – to the hospital.

The first crash took place on Thursday, August 5 around 6:15 p.m. on Interstate 94 near Evansville.

According to the State Patrol, Victoria Volk, 52, of Coon Rapids, was traveling westbound on Interstate 94 when she exited at the Evansville exit, mile marker 82.

She reportedly lost control of her vehicle, a 2006 Dodge pickup, and then it rolled.

Volk was extricated from the vehicle by the Evansville Fire Department. She was taken by North Ambulance to Douglas County Hospital and later transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

As of Tuesday morning, she was listed in serious condition.

Volk was wearing her seat belt, according to the State Patrol.

The second crash took place Friday, August 6 around 4:30 p.m. on Highway 27 in Osakis.

According to the State Patrol, Debra Lang, 50, of Osakis, was traveling eastbound on Highway 27 when she hit an unoccupied Osakis Police Department squad car.

Lang’s vehicle, a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire Coupe, rolled and she had to be extricated by the Osakis Fire Department.

She was transported to Douglas County Hospital where she was treated and released.

Lang was wearing her seat belt, according to the State Patrol.
