Garfield hosts summer celebration next Saturday
There are many fun activities planned for the 14th of August in the city of Garfield.
There are many fun activities planned for the 14th of August in the city of Garfield.
The day will include city-wide garage sales, a parade and many family fun activities throughout the day, followed by a street dance to end the evening. Here’s the schedule of events:
•Citywide garage sales.
•Activities in the park.
•Firemen’s water wars.
•7 a.m. to 11 a.m. – St. John’s pancake feed.
•11:30 a.m. – Parade.
•Children’s water ball fights to follow parade.
•2 p.m. – Bean bag toss tournament at Garfield Park. Prizes will be given at the end. First place prize: choice between half of registration money or bean bag toss game, second prize: will be given other prize. There is a $10 entry fee per team (all money will be collected at the park starting at 1:30 p.m.).
•2 p.m. – Stan’s Country Dutchmen (old time polka band) will be playing in the park (weather permitting) or Garfield City Hall.
•3 p.m. to 7 p.m. – St. Luke’s pie and ice cream social.
•4:30 p.m. – Kids’ tractor pull.
•4:30 to 7 p.m. – Firemen’s pork chop feed.
•9 p.m. to 1 a.m. – Fire Station street dance featuring “Sweet Siren” (cover charge of $7, rain or shine, outdoor tent).
