Golf: Barge wins Pro-Am
Alexandria golf pros Jeremy Decko, Ron Rebrovich and Brady Swedberg were also in the field
Mike Barge of the Hazeltine National Golf Club came out of a strong field as the winner of the 2010 Sprint All-State Wireless/Alexandria Area Hotels and Hospitality Committee Pro-Am that kicked off Resorters week at the Alexandria Golf Club on Sunday afternoon.
Barge shot a six-under 66 to edge 2009 co-champion Ben Meyers of the Medina Golf Club. Jeremy Decko and Brady Swedberg of AGC were part of a group of four pros who finished tied for third with rounds of 68. Decko was shooting for a share of his third straight Pro-Am title. Alexandria head pro Ron Rebrovich carded a 71 and finished tied for 11th.
For the first 16 years of the Pro-Am, it served as the kickoff for the annual Resorters Golf Tournament, but moved away from that event in 2004.
But for its 21st season, the Pro-Am, sponsored this year by Sprint All-State Wireless, returned to the Resorters Golf Tournament to kick off a week of exceptional golf in Alexandria.
