Letter - Are you a texting driver?

To the editor:
To the person driving toward Alexandria at approximately 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28 (maroon car). We very nearly had a head-on collision as you crossed the line, drove in my lane, and continued over onto the shoulder of my lane before you realized what you were doing. You then nonchalantly drove back into your lane. I had nowhere to go except into your lane. Had I not slammed on the brakes, you and I would be dead. Had there been another car coming from your direction, that person and I would have had a head-on collision, as I do not think I would have made it to the ditch on the other side in time. I’m sorry if this sounds melodramatic, but my knees are still shaking.
If you are a person who texts while driving, I hope this has put the fear of God in you. I know it reminded me clearly how inattentive driving can end in disaster.
Have we not had enough head-on collisions on Hwy. 27 between Osakis and Alexandria? Please be an attentive driver!
