Stephen and Deborah Allen of Danbury, Wisconsin received a 2010 Harley Davidson Wideglide motorcycle at Apol’s Harley Davidson in Alexandria on July 22.
They won the motorcycle from the Underwood American Legion Post 489.
The prize carried a special meaning: The Allens lost their son, Chad, while he was serving overseas as a Marine sergeant.
Deborah said Chad loved riding his motorcycle. After his death, they had a memorial painted on his motorcycle and have gotten back into riding while touring on it.
The Allens had previously lived in Minnesota and Chad had been deployed from Minnesota, said Deborah.
She added it will be hard not to ride Chad’s motorcycle all of the time but they plan on adjusting their new motorcycle for tour riding.
This is the Legion’s sixth annual motorcycle raffle, said Todd Petersen, the run coordinator for the Underwood Legion.
The raffle is a fundraiser for the Fergus Falls Veterans Home Recreation Fund, added Petersen. The Legion motorcycle raffle raised approximately $10,000 this year.
