Bigger wins girls' 13-15 division in PGA Junior event

A total of 48 golfers ages 13-18 competed in one of the 2010 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association shotgun events last Friday at the Lake Miltona Golf Club.

John Vogeler bested the field of 28 entries in the boys’ 13-15 group, shooting a 73, while Lukas Bigger, Brandon Bistodeau and Brady Bast tied for second as they all carded 76s for the round.

Austin Fowler won the boys’ 16-18 division, which featured five entries, finishing with a round of 65, while Jason Teragawa was second with a 78 and Jordan Hafdal was third at 84.

Fowler was also the boys’ medalist as he shot a 32 on the front nine and 33 on the back.

Amanda Bigger won the girls’ 13-15 division, which featured six entries, as she carded an 87.

Ellen Stensrud was second with a 90 and Emily Thul was third with a 92.

In the girls’ 16-18 division, McKaila Granning and Morgan Freeburg tied for top honors with 86, while Chloe Westlund and Hailey Holland tied for third at 91.

Granning and Freeburg tied for the girls’ medalist honor with Granning shooting 40-46 and Freeburg 43-43.
