The Alexandria Beetles landed two players on the 2010 Northwoods League All-Star team for the Tuesday, July 20 game in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Both shortstop Marcus Semien, a sophomore from the University of California, and right hand pitcher Sander Beck, a sophomore from the University of Maryland, made the squad. Both are first time selections.
The 2010 home run derby will start an hour and a half before the All-Star game. The all-star game will be streamed over the internet on NorthwoodsLeague.tv.
The Thunder Bay Border Cats lead the way with six All-Stars on the North Division team, while the South Division first-half champion Eau Claire Express placed five All-Stars on the squad. The North Division’s first-half champion Rochester Honkers landed three All-Stars.
This year’s all-stars were chosen in a vote by the 16 member teams of the Northwoods League. Ballots were cast by each team’s field staff and radio and media contacts.
