'Ugly' storm stirs up some hail, wind damage in area

The storm brewed up more than a few funnel clouds that were spotted near Evansville and Millerville at around 5 p.m.

For several hours, the area was under a tornado watch followed by a tornado warning.

Hail was reported in some parts of the county, including the Lowry area.

Strong gusting winds and hard rain pelted the Alexandria area. Several tree branches were blown down.

Wind gusts in some parts of the state were clocked at 60 miles per hour.

Authorities took precautionary measures by notifying local campgrounds of the threatening weather.

Drivers arriving at the Viking Speedway were told to take shelter inside the Runestone Community Center. The races that night were washed out.

More severe weather was in the forecast for today, Wednesday.
