Resorters baseball: Miltona Tigers no-hit Osakis Hawks
Three Miltona Tiger pitchers teamed up to throw an unconventional no-hitter to wrap up the regular season this past weekend.
Chris Koep, John Mohror and Cody Curry did not allow a hit against Osakis, but the Hawks still managed to score four unearned runs in the Tigers’ 14-4 win on Saturday.
Koep got the start and was fairly dominant through five innings. He issued a walk to the first man he faced that later came around to score on an error. Koep settled in from there, striking out nine and allowing just one ball to leave the infield.
Mohr and Curry took care of the Hawks from there. Mohr faced the minimum through two innings of work. Curry came on in the eighth and gave up three unearned runs before retiring the side in order in the ninth.
The Tigers’ offense gave their pitchers plenty of support. Zac Beireis walked to lead off the game before Tom Steidl drove him in with an RBI double. Tyler Walsh added a two-run single as part of a three-run fifth. Miltona then broke the game open with three in the seventh and five in the eighth to make it a 13-1 game.
The win wrapped up the regular season and gave the Tigers a No. 3 seed heading into the Resorters’ East playoffs. They open postseason play with a road game at No. 2 seeded Clarissa this Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m. The two teams split their two regular season games with the home team winning both games.
