Douglas County Land and Resource Management will host a community open house to present its progress on the county’s comprehensive plan revision process.

The open house will take place at Lake Brophy County Park Thursday, July 15. Here is the schedule of events:

•5:30 to 7 p.m. – Open forum with display kiosks.

•6 to 6:45 p.m. – Presentation of planning process.

•7 to 8 p.m. – An easy bicycle tour is planned so bring your bike.

Light refreshments will be served.

The comprehensive plan determines the future development of Douglas County by steering the creation of zoning districts and ordinance, forming policy related to transportation, parks and trails, natural resource use and encouraging economic development as well as the preservation of agriculture.

Draft sections of the plan, including land use goals and policies, parks and trails, transportation and a natural resource inventory, are available for review.

Public input and comments on the draft work completed are critical to ensuring that the process continues to move in a direction supported by county residents, according to Dave Rush, director of land and resource management.

Representatives from the county and SEH, Inc. will be present to answer questions during the open house.

More information about the comprehensive plan revision process can be obtained by calling Rush at (320) 762-3863, sending an e-mail to LRM@mail.co.douglas.mn.us or by visiting the website www.sehinc.com/online/douglas.
