United Way needs volunteers in Glenwood to staff the Brat and Hot Dog Stand at Tom’s Food Pride on Thursday, July 29 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers are also needed to serve ribs and corn at the Hog Wild Fest 2010 fundraiser at Pete’s County Market in Alexandria July 8-10 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Community Education needs adult and youth enrichment instructors to share their skills with community members. Call (320) 762-3310 Ext. 4275.

WINGS needs two volunteers on Monday nights from 4:30 to 6 p.m. to help with childcare during “group” at the transitional housing complex. Contact Dorie at (320) 763-6638.

Elder Network needs volunteers for Respite Program to spend one to four hours per week providing companionship and conversation to a care receiver so the caregiver can take a break. Care Team volunteers needed to provide occasional rides to those who can no longer drive. Peer support volunteers needed to offer peer support by meeting with older adults in their homes weekly to provide support due to life changes, loss, loneliness or emotional concern. Training for this begins September 7. Training required for all volunteers. Call Elder Network at (320) 763-9084.
