GRAND FORKS, N.D. – A man at the LM Wind Power plant here died from injuries suffered this morning when he was pinned between two cranes, according to Grand Forks Police.

The worker was taken by ambulance to Altru Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

His name has not been released pending notification of family, police said.

Authorities received the call from the facility in the Grand Forks Industrial Park about 10:20 a.m.

Workers got the machinery off the injured worker, and Altru paramedics used chest compressions and other methods in efforts to resuscitate him, Grand Forks Police Department Lt. Grant Schiller said.

Police closed off the area of the plant where the incident occurred, and operations in that part of the facility stopped, though LM’s overall plant operations continued, Schiller said.

Workers standing outside the plant following the incident consoled each other, particularly one man who appeared visibly distraught.

Several workers declined to comment or referred questions to management.
