Letter - Fortunate letter writer
The letter in the June 16 Echo regarding entitlements made me immediately think of the following quote by Kurt Vonnegut: “If Jesus were alive today, we would kill him by lethal injection. I call that progress. We would have to kill him for the same reason he was killed the first time. His ideas are just too liberal.”
To the editor:
The letter in the June 16 Echo regarding entitlements made me immediately think of the following quote by Kurt Vonnegut: “If Jesus were alive today, we would kill him by lethal injection. I call that progress. We would have to kill him for the same reason he was killed the first time. His ideas are just too liberal.”
I can only conclude the letter writer has never been in or visited a hospital, a nursing home, a veterans’ home, a home for battered women or abused children, never made rounds with a social worker, never lost a job because the business failed or the job was sent overseas, doesn’t have a lifelong debilitating mental or physical condition, and never been discriminated against because of age, skin color, religion, or sexual orientation. How fortunate.
