Martin, Dock win Silverado Pro-Am Bass tournament

Professional angler Pat Martin and his amateur partner Cody Dock took first in the opening leg of the Silverado Pro-Am Bass Tour at Arrowwood Resort on June 12.

The duo finished first by almost two pounds over the nearest competitor. They brought in a total weight of 17.04 pounds on their six-fish limit. That earned Martin the $8,000 Silverado Pro-Am winner’s check, while Dock took home a $1,500 payday.

Martin also took home a little extra for bringing in the biggest bass of the day. He brought in a 5.29-pound largemouth to earn the $500 big-bass prize. The duo flipped jigs on Lake L’ Homme Dieu to bring in the winning fish.

Pro angler Andy Young and Joe DuBuque took second place with a six-fish limit weighing in at 15.16 pounds. Shane Raveling and John Mingo took third with 14.50 pounds of fish.

The tour will be back in the area for its next stop in July. Waters’ Edge in Starbuck will be the host site on July 24 as anglers take to Lake Minnewaska. Brandon native Cory Putnam, who finished 20th with Jim Lokken on the chain this past weekend, has had great success on Minnewaska the last two years. He finished first in 2008 and took second last year.

The Silverado Tour wraps up with one more stop in August and two more in September. Melvin’s on the Lake on Green Lake hosts the event on August 21. Things then finish up with a stop on the Horseshoe Chain of Lakes in Cold Spring and a final stop on Lake Minnetonka on September 18. A lot can happen between now and then as anglers try to work their way up the season standings.
