Founder Craig Culver of Culver’s Frozen Custard and Butterburgers is searching for the best Culver’s in America and is offering up more than $80,000 in awards to stores that make the cut.
The contest has three different three-month contests to narrow the field for the “final 64” tournament later this year.
The owner/operator of the Alexandria Culver’s, Duane Rostad, said, “This is an exciting opportunity for our store and our town to shine on a national level. We are facing larger stores in metropolitan areas like Minneapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee, Kansas City, Phoenix, Dallas and many others and we are doing well.”
Through eight weeks, Alexandria has advanced every week with wins over some of the top stores in the system. That’s motivated Culver’s employees to spread the word and try to garner support this week and the next three weeks.
This contest started with 421 stores and Alexandria is in the final 32. Three more wins would guarantee prize money and five more result in $12,000 going to benefit the employees of Culver’s Alexandria.
Rostad said the award money would be split among all team members.
The contest is based on each store’s sales increase over the prior year. Alexandria’s gains have ranged from 9 percent to 30 percent in the past five weeks.
“This is a tough competition, and I hope our community can come out in support of our store and our team members as they try to earn a little extra for all their hard work,” Rostad said. “We do everything we can to support our community through charitable giving and helping where we can, but I am excited to see if we can win this thing and reward our kids with some extra money for college.”
