The Alexandria Area Arts Association will host Fast*Fest 2010 this Saturday, June 19.
The Minnesota Association of Community Theatres is presenting the third biennial short play festival, Fast*Fest.
After two years in St. Cloud, the festival has been moved to Alexandria.
This festival of short (20 minutes maximum) plays will feature many original scripts.
At Fast*Fest, a new concept – Splash – will also be presented. A “splash” tries to capture some of the spontaneity and freshness of a sporting event. It will contrast the performances of two actors who rehearse the play together with the same actors performing with someone they have not performed with before.
There are two sessions planned – one at 2 p.m. and the other at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $10 per session, payable at the door the day of the event.
Here is a look at the 2 p.m. session:
•“Ring Dem Bells” – Minnesota Short Play Company.
•Splash #1 – Rehearsed cast, Doug Dally, director.
•The Four Monkeys of the Apocalypse – The Merlin Players.
•Splash #2 – Rehearsed cast, Julianna Skluzacek, director.
•“Puppy Loathe” – Northfield Arts Guild.
Here is a look at the 7:30 p.m. session:
•“Flowers for Algernon” – Marshal Area Stage Company.
•Splash #3 – Un-rehearsed combination.
•Five for a Hundred – Playing on Purpose Productions.
•Splash #4 – Un-rehearsed combination.
•“Tea Party” – Ole Olson Onstage.
