Theatre L’Homme Dieu in Alexandria is proud to present its 50th anniversary season.
For the past 50 years, TLHD has contributed to the vibrancy and allure of the Alexandria lakes area by presenting exceptional and entertaining theater.
And this year will be no different. The theater opens its season on June 22 with Always…Patsy Cline, and then will feature four more productions – Fishing Widows: The Reel Story, Leaving Iowa, Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Defending the Caveman.
Last summer, TLHD embarked on a bold, new direction by partnering with premier, professional regional theaters bringing audiences a “Taste of Minnesota” with five high-caliber comedies and musicals.
Last year’s season was a smashing success with more than 7,300 patrons attending 36 performances, according to Chris Denton, executive director of TLHD.
“The positive response from audiences and artists exceeded our wildest expectations,” he said. “The 50th anniversary season is anticipated to surpass last summer’s achievements in quality, impact and attendance.”
Each show will be performed for six performances with Tuesday through Saturday performances at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday performances at 2 p.m. All performances will take place in TLHD’s Bursch Family Hall.
Single tickets range from $17.50 to $22.50. Season tickets are also available and can be purchased online at www.tlhd.org or by calling the box office at (320) 846-3150.
Senior, group and child discounts are available.
TLHD is located at 1875 County Road 120 NE in Alexandria.
The first show
Showcasing the cast, set and costumes from Chanhassen Dinner Theatre’s long-running hit, Always…Patsy Cline, with more than 25 songs, it is more than a musical tribute to the legendary country singer.
The show is based on a true story about Cline’s friendship with a fan that befriended the star and continued a unique pen-pal relationship with Cline until her untimely death at the age of 30.
The musical, complete with down home country humor, true emotion and even some audience participation, includes many of Cline’s unforgettable hits.
Always…Patsy Cline will run from Tuesday, June 22 through Sunday, June 27. It was originally written and directed by Ted Swindely. It is being produced by TLHD.
