Two Detroit Lakes residents were injured in a broadside accident Friday afternoon at Highway 10 and Buffalo River State Park Road.
Michael E, Pickus, 55, of Detroit Lakes and a passenger in his 1996 Buick Riviera, Gary D. Johnson, 59, of Detroit Lakes suffered serious, but non life-threatening injuries in the crash, and Johnson was taken from the scene in a Life Flight helicopter, according to the State Patrol.
Pickus was transported to MeritCare Hospital in Fargo by Fargo-Moorhead Ambulance.
Michael Light, 10, of Fargo was also injured and transported to MeritCare Hospital in Fargo with non life-threatening injuries.
He was riding in a 1999 Chevrolet driven by his father, Robert M. Light, 46, of Fargo, who suffered no apparent injuries in the crash, but was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.
The Chevrolet was northbound on Buffalo River State Park Road, went through a stop sign, and struck the Buick Riviera, which was eastbound on Highway 10.
The accident was reported at 5:10 p.m. Friday on dry four-lane blacktop.
