Alexandria's Maggie Leland shot a day-one 74 to tie her with Sara Detlefsen of Eastview for second place in the State Class AAA girls' golf tournament, one stroke behind leader Betsy Kelly of Forest Lake.
Maxine Carlson is tied at 32nd after coming in with an 86, Amanda Bigger is tied for 58th with a 93, Caroline Roers is tied for 62nd at 95, Lauren Johnson is tied for 72nd at 99 and Brynn Novotny is 78th with a 102.
The Cardinal girls' team is in sixth place after day one as they turned in a team round of 348.
New Prague leads the way with a 330, Stillwater is second with 333, Edinal third at 334, Grand Rapids fourth at 339, Eastview fifth at 345, Irondale seventh at 363 and Northfield eighth at 375.
