Olson, Badgers row to 7th

Alexandria native Ahna Olson and the University of Wisconsin rowing team wrapped up its season with a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Rowing Championships on May 30.

Olson and the rest of her teammates in the varsity-eight boat wrapped up the three-day event with a fourth-place finish in the petite final with a time of 6:34.22. That gave them a 10th-place overall finish; the best varsity-eight finish in school history.

The Badgers collected 55 points overall. That almost doubled the school’s old high point total at the rowing championships of 28, which was set in the 2006 season. Wisconsin finished higher than any other Big Ten team. Michigan State finished ninth, Michigan was 11th and Ohio State was 14th.

Virginia won the team title for the first time in school history. The Cavaliers finished with 87 team points. California and Princeton rounded out the top three.
