Matching grant challenge under way for Prairie Event CenterA $250,000 challenge has been issued to pay off the debt-reduction on the Prairie Event Center.
A $250,000 challenge has been issued to pay off the debt-reduction on the Prairie Event Center.
“Lloyd Paulson and the late Bev Paulson have given a challenge to the people of Parkers Prairie and the surrounding area – an opportunity that we should all take advantage of,” said Gerry Freudenberg, event center chair. “Lloyd has offered the Prairie Event Center committee to again assemble and raise $250,000 by the end of 2011 and he will match that amount.”
Paulson has never forgotten his grass-roots, Freudenberg said. Being from Parkers Prairie, Paulson has started or donated to many projects in the community.
“The list is endless,” said Freudenberg. “We can be forever grateful to such people who are willing to share in making the community grow and prosper, not only Lloyd, but many others.”
The event center has been used for a variety of purposes by the people of Parkers Prairie and surrounding area, including weddings, anniversaries, class reunions, bridal showers, baby showers, comedy night entertainment and so on.
“We’ve had an individual from the state of New Jersey book the event center for a family Christmas party,” Freudenberg said. “Another booking was a family from the Twin Cities for their mother’s birthday party, and we just booked a wedding reception with a couple from Glenwood.”
A wedding party that was looking for wheelchair accessibility for themselves and their guests are also having their reception at the event center.
“If you’ve been to an event at the Prairie Event Center you’ve also been able to enjoy the occasion in the very fine facility,” Freudenberg said.
A committee is being formed to help assist with donations. Cash donations or pledges may be made to the Prairie Event Center at PO Box 70, Parkers Prairie, MN 56361.
Pledges may be spread out over a five-year period if you so desire, and they are tax deductible.
“We are hopeful that those who so graciously supported the project to get the Prairie Event Center built will again contribute to this very fine facility,” said Freudenberg, “and for those who haven’t, this is an opportunity to jump on board with any size donation to help us reach our goal.”
