Motorists traveling in Mahnomen, Becker, Clay, Otter Tail and Douglas counties may encounter delays this month during a shoulder repair project.
Crews will repair shoulders on the following highways beginning this week:
•Highway 29 between Parkers Prairie and Alexandria.
•Highway 59 between Mahnomen and Detroit Lakes.
•Highway 9 between Highway 10 and Barnesville.
•Highway 78 between Perham and Ottertail.
The moving repair operation requires temporary daytime lane closures. Flaggers will guide traffic through the work zone.
This safety improvement project is scheduled to be completed in late June.
During construction and road maintenance work, Mn/DOT urges drivers to:
•Check www.511mn.org or call 5-1-1 for up-to-date information about traffic and road conditions.
•Never enter a road that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
•Avoid tailgating. Keep plenty of space between you and the vehicle ahead.
•Be patient. Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
•Follow posted speed limits; fines double in work zones.
•Stay in one lane while driving through a work zone; don’t pass or change lanes unnecessarily.
