Former Minnewaska basketball standout Jordan Johnsrud recently signed a letter of intent to play for St. Cloud State University (SCSU) starting this fall.
Johnsrud spent the last two seasons at Minnesota State Community and Technical College (MSCTC) in Fergus Falls. He averaged 18 points and nine rebounds per game this past season.
“Jordan is an athletic post that can play both the power forward and center position for us,” Huskies’ head coach Kevin Schlagel said. “A versatile athlete, we see Jordan helping us in several areas and giving us much needed depth on our front line.”
Johnsrud garnered plenty of recognition while playing in Fergus Falls. He was named a 2009-10 NJCAA Division III Pre-season All-American, a 2010 Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) all-state selection and a MCAC South Division all-conference member. He was a two-time all-state selection and a two-time team MVP.
The former Laker ranks in the top 10 in all-time scoring and rebounding at MSCTC-Fergus Falls. He ranked ninth in his conference in scoring and eighth in rebounding last season.
Johnsrud will join a Huskies team that is coming off one of its best seasons in school history. SCSU advanced to the semifinals of the Division II NCAA Tournament last year before falling to Indiana (PA) in the semifinals. The Huskies finished with a school record 29-6 record.
