Section 6A boys' tennis: Lakers Hoffman, Peters head to state

Minnewaska’s Dylan Hoffman and Ben Peters finished second in the Section 6A doubles tournament Tuesday, advancing them to the State Class A tourney that begins June 10 at the Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center in Minneapolis.

Hoffman and Peters defeated Steve Dotzler and Ben Hageman of Foley 7-6 (7-1), 6-2, then fell in the finals to Luke Widseth and Ben Murphy of Benson/KMS after an injury default with the score 4-6, 6-3.

Lakers Lars Meisner and Tanner Blair lost in the semifinals and then lost their third place match to end their season.

SECTION 6A INDIVIDUAL TENNIS

DOUBLES

SEMIFINALS – Luke Widseth-Ben Murphy, BKMS, def. Lars Meisner-Tanner Blair, Min, 6-4, 6-3; Dylan Hoffman-Ben Peters, Min, def. Steve Dotzler-Ben Hageman 7-6 (7-1), 6-2.

CHAMPIONSHIP – Widseth-Murphy, BKMS, def. Hoffman-Peters 4-6, 6-3 injury default.

THIRD PLACE – Dotlzer-Hageman def. Meisner-Blair 6-2, 6-2.
