Alexandria native Tom Lehman parred his first playoff hole against Fred Couples and David Frost to win the 71st Senior PGA Championship Sunday, earning the former British Open champion $360,000.

Lehman’s start to the tourney was less than stellar as he bogeyed three of his first five holes.

From there, Lehman settled down and played bogey-free golf for the remaining 13 holes to finish 3-under par 71. He was the only golfer to shoot four runs under par at the Colorado Golf Club in Denver.

He began the final day as co-leader at 6-under with Jay Don Blake, and Lehman, along with Couples and Frost, finished the regulation 72 holes in 7-under par 281.

In his six tournaments on the Champions Tour, Lehman has finished five times in the top five. He’s fourth in scoring average at 68.60 and first in scoring average on the PGA Tour at 69.45.
