Stanley C. Fluto, 82, Hickson, North Dakota, died Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Meritcare Hospital, Palliative Care, Fargo, North Dakota.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 3 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Lidgerwood, North Dakota with Pastor Bruce Noennig officiating. Interment was at Elk Creek Cemetery in Wyndmere, North Dakota.
Stanley was born April 9, 1928 to Melvin and Minnie (Jensen) Fluto in Mantador, North Dakota. He grew up and attended school in Wyndmere. On April 5, 1946 he entered the U.S. Army and served during the WWII reconstruction at the Philippines and Okinawa. He received his honorable discharge and returned to Wyndmere.
On June 11, 1948 he was united in marriage to Dolores Krause. For 25 years, Stanley managed grain elevators around the area. He then went to work for Dry-Mor Industries in Alexandria, until he owned Dakota Crop Drying Systems in Devils Lake, ND. His last employment was with EEE Inc. as a grain dryer salesman. In their later years, Stanley and Dolores spent summers at Otter Tail Lake and winters at Lake Havasu City, AZ.
Stanley was a lifetime member of the Barney VFW Memorial Post No. 9366 and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, taking care of his yard, gardening and watching western movies and sports, especially the Vikings and the Twins. Stanley loved family get-togethers with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially during the Fourth of July.
Stanley is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dolores, of Hickson, ND; his children, Cheryl McQuade, Fargo, ND, Gary Fluto, Lidgerwood, ND, David Fluto, Reile’s Acres, ND, Paul (Mary) Fluto, Hawley, Brian (Tammy) Fluto, Bemidji, Bradley Fluto, Hickson, ND, Tim Fluto, Alexandria, Marsha (Randy) Sayre, Alexandria, Deborah Roth-Hall, Littleton, CO; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-granchildren; his three sisters, Marion Hausauer, Lake Havasu City, AZ, Yvonne (Charles) Link, Georgia, and Karen (Dennis) Zimmer, Sun Lakes, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant daughter, Jennifer; and his brother, Richard Fluto.
Arrangements were with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.
