Track and field: A-B-E girls are Pheasant champs
The Ashby-Brandon-Evansville girls’ track team ran away with the Pheasant Conference team title last Thursday, while the boys took fifth at Ortonville.
The Ashby-Brandon-Evansville girls’ track team ran away with the Pheasant Conference team title last Thursday, while the boys took fifth at Ortonville.
Megan Friedrich led the charge with three first-place finishes as the girls scored 167 points, 36 ahead of second-place finishing Ortonville. Friedrich took the 100-meter dash (13.08), 100-meter hurdles (16.53) and the long jump (15’11”). She was also third in the 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 27.72.
Kristi Schafer and Mackenzie Schmuck won the other individual titles for ABE. Schmuck took the high jump with a leap of 4’8.” Schafer took the 300-meter hurdles in 46.7 seconds. She was also a part of the 1,600-meter relay team that won in a time of 4:23.97. Moriah Wales, Becca Hansen and Hunter Plaster joined her to take the 1,600.
Sean Henneman took the only individual title for the boys. He won the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 45.16 seconds. Adam Wagner, Jeremiah Johnson, Josh Barsness and Gavin Saxton also won the 3,200-meter relay with a time of 9:31.
