The Brandon-Evansville Bluedogs moved to 2-1 on the season behind a strong start by Kyle Bruns and a 10-hit attack on offense last Saturday against Long Prairie.
The Bluedogs were also aided by 10 Long Prairie walks in the 13-3 win over the Predators.
Nate Meissner reached base five times in six plate appearances to lead the Brandon-Evansville offense. He came around to score four times after walking three times and collecting a double and a single. Chris Shea also went 2-5 at the plate, with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI.
Bruns took that offensive support and ran with it on the mound. He threw six-plus innings for the win. The former Chargers’ right-hander allowed just two earned runs on four hits, while striking out four.
The Bluedogs will try build on their current two-game winning streak this weekend as they play three games. They will host the Urbank-Parkers Prairie Bombers in Evansville tonight, Friday, with an 8 p.m. first pitch. They then go on the road for a 2 p.m. game against Osakis before a 5 p.m. game against Kensington on Sunday.
