Roste is Pitch, Hit and Run section champ

Jana Roste claimed the sectional Pitch, Hit and Run championship in the girls’ softball division for ages 13-14 in Fergus Falls last weekend, qualifying her for state competition.

Roste won all three portions of the competition to take the overall title.

Her sectional score will be compared to scores from several sectionals held throughout the Minnesota Twins Major League Baseball (MLB) market to determine the top three individuals, who then advance to the state finals at Target Field June 12.

Overall champions at the state level will be compared to those in all 30 MLB markets to determine the top three nationwide, with those three finalists competing in the national finals held during the All-Star game in July.

Roste is the daughter of Jeff and Lucy Roste of Alexandria.

In the boys’ 7-8-year-old division, Matthew Carlsen was second overall. Carlsen is the son of Brian and KrisAnn Carlsen of Alexandria.

Jaran Roste was second in the championship of 11-12-year-old boys’ division. He is the son of Jeff and Lucy Roste of Alexandria.

Local competition

Autumn Botz, Jana Roste, Matthew Carlsen, Cody Faber and Jaran Roste were winners in their age divisions in the local Pitch, Hit and Run competition in Alexandria recently.

Autumn Botz won the girls’ 7-8 division, while Jana Roste won the girls’ 13-14 division.

In boys’ competition, Carlsen won the ages 7-8 division, Faber the ages 9-10 division and Jaran Roste the ages 11-12 division.
