Alexandria adapted bowlers open state tourney action today
The defending champions are back in the CI doubles division
2009 state champion doubles team Andrew Winter and Gideon Hartsell will be returning to the adapted bowling CI Division state tourney again this year to defend their title.
Hartsell, a sophomore, averages 116 and Winter, a junior, averages 105.
Alexandria will have five teams in the state CI tourney this year as 28 teams in all will compete. North Tartan has the most with six.
Sophomore Kendra Holm is the only member of the Cardinals’ runner-up team from last year returning.
The 10th annual state tournament will begin today, Friday, May 21, at the Brunswick Zone in Eden Prairie.
Singles competition is scheduled for 9 a.m. with doubles competition to begin at 12:30 p.m. and team competition at 3 p.m.
Adapted bowling is one of four sports the Minnesota State High School League sponsors for athletes with disabilities and the first that allows competition among individuals.
