Rounding up bike safety

Alexandria police officer Keith Melrose helped guide children through some maneuvers at a bike safety rodeo Saturday at Voyager Elementary School. Bicyclists learned safety tips, had their bikes inspected and adjusted, had a chance to win prizes such as bikes and helmets, and enjoyed a free lunch courtesy of Pete’s County Market and Culver’s. The Alexandria Police Department event, which also included a 1.5-mile family bike ride, was supported by the Kiwanis Club, Jake’s Bikes and the Alexandria Bike Club.
