Horseshoes: Larson competes in elite tournament
Local horseshoe pitcher competes with top players in the country
Evansville’s Alan Larson tied for eighth place at the Six-Pac Invitational Horseshoe tournament in Wentzville, Missouri against some of the best pitchers in the country on May 1.
Larson went 8-7 at the tournament with 508 points and 455 total ringers out of the 748 shoes he tossed. Larson won six of seven matches after starting off 0-2 against second-place finisher Alan Francis of Ohio and eventual champion Brian Simmons of Vermont. Simmons went 15-0 at the tournament with 610 ringers out of 702 shoes tossed. Francis lost just once with 643 ringers out of 724 shoes.
