Hokanson second in 2010 Chain of Lakes Triathlon

Alexandria’s Kadie Hokanson, 29, finished a little more than two minutes behind Northwoods’ Brooke Larsen for first place at the 2010 Chain of Lakes Triathlon this past Saturday.

Larsen finished the 600-yard swim, 13-mile bike and 2.8 mile run in 1:10:07 to take the women’s title. Hokanson was not far behind, finishing in a time of 1:12:12.

Sarah Johnston and Steph Davidson rounded out the top three Alexandria finishes. Johnston, 31, came across in 1:16:18, while Davidson was right behind with a time of 1:16:53.

The overall male division winner was University of Minnesota triathlete Sam Janicki of Maplewood. Janicki’s time of 55:11 was the second fastest time in Chain of Lakes Triathlon history. Matt Payne is the only male to finish with a faster time. That came at last year’s event.

Janicki beat pre-race favorite Steve Sander of Richfield in every discipline. Sander took second in a time of 57:27.

Joe Schneiderhan, 44, Sam Vinje, 18, and Brian Storhaug, 19, were the top three Alexandria finishers in the male division. Schneiderhan came in just over an hour at 1:02.27. Vinje finished in 1:09:00, while Storhaug was right behind at 1:09:07.
