Skaters show Olympic spirit
The Alexandria Figure Skating Club’s (AFSC) 31st annual ice review “Light the Fire Within,” which followed a Winter Olympics theme, was another huge success as the club presented two performances at the Runestone Community Center recently.
The Alexandria Figure Skating Club’s (AFSC) 31st annual ice review “Light the Fire Within,” which followed a Winter Olympics theme, was another huge success as the club presented two performances at the Runestone Community Center recently. The opening numbers, “Call of the Champions” and “Olympic Spirit,” were performed by Kendra Donlea, Brittney Muzik, Elizabeth Hausmann, Allison Wood, Madison Hess, Morgan Hess, AnaLea Sheets, Gretchen Majerus, Whitney Olson and Midori Von Bargen. The opening lighting ceremony included the torch used in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. Skaters ranging from preschool to adult gave performances, which were choreographed by AFSC coaches Connie Brukow, Kathy Carlsen, T.J. Pendergast, Sara Linow, Brittany Muzik, Elizabeth Hausmann, Allison Wood and Lindsey Bryant.
