Steffel competes at state

Jefferson High School’s (JHS) Katelyn Steffel tied for 17th in the category of Serious Poetry Interpretation at the state speech tournament.

Jefferson High School’s (JHS) Katelyn Steffel tied for 17th in the category of Serious Poetry Interpretation at the state speech tournament on April 23 at Gustavus Adolphus College.

Steffel competed in three rounds with eight speakers in each round; she was ranked third, fourth and then fifth – not high enough to make the final round of the top eight.

“Katelyn had a very good season, the result of her talent and effort,” said JHS speech coach Scott Fodness. She represented our team well at state.”
