Willmar man identified as worker injured in gravel pit

WILLMAR, Minn. — Jason Anthony Hamstad of Willmar has been identified as the worker involved in an accident Thursday at the Monson gravel pit north of here.
Hamstad, 34, was injured in an accident at approximately 2:40 p.m. Thursday, suffering trauma to one of his arms after being caught in a piece of machinery.
According to a Sheriff’s Office news release, Hamstad was airlifted from the scene to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Hamstad’s Caring Bridge website reported Friday that he underwent trauma surgery upon arrival at HCMC. He is currently on a ventilator and resting in Surgical/Neuroscience ICU at HCMC.
The accident is being investigated by the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
