Bill to name Alexandria VA clinic after Max Beilke clears Senate

U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar announced Friday that her bill to name the Department of Veterans Affairs outpatient clinic in Alexandria as the “Max J. Beilke Department of Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic” has passed the full Senate. The bill will next be sent to the President to be signed into law.
“Max Beilke served our country and Minnesota honorably and was a tireless advocate for veterans,” said Klobuchar. “I am proud to announce that this bill is being sent to the President to be signed into law so the clinic can officially be named the ‘Max J. Beilke Department of Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic.’ ”
Max J. Beilke, born and raised in Pipestone, Minnesota, graduated from Alexandria High School in 1950, and was a victim of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the Pentagon. He was drafted during the Korean War, sent to Vietnam in 1972 and was officially the last American combat soldier to leave Saigon on March 29, 1973. After 22 years on active duty, Beilke served as the Deputy Chief of Retirement Services in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel in the Army.
