The University of Minnesota is inviting high school bands from around the state to be a part of the U of M’s prestigious Homecoming Parade and perform to more than 20,000 viewers.
The Homecoming Committee is currently accepting applications from high school bands to participate in the 2010 Homecoming Parade. The Homecoming High School Band Selection Committee will select only one high school marching band to take part in the parade.
In addition to marching in the parade, the winning high school band will be invited to the U of M Marching Band’s practice and will also receive a $900 stipend. Applications are due May 14, 2010 and can be found at http://www.homecoming.umn.edu. The selected band will be notified no later than June 18, 2010.
Homecoming is the largest University of Minnesota campus-wide activity. It is planned and implemented by a team of five students through Student Unions & Activities. This celebration brings the campus community together with events such as a campus-wide scavenger hunt, cheer and lip sync competitions, sports competitions, community service events, pep rallies, and of course the Homecoming parade and football game.
