Letter - Reopen disc golf course
I implore the city of Alexandria to reopen the disc golf course. I believe that between the city and the disc golfing community, that the course could be redesigned to allow for people of all ages to enjoy the park without putting any neighboring properties in jeopardy.
To the editor:
I implore the city of Alexandria to reopen the disc golf course. I believe that between the city and the disc golfing community, that the course could be redesigned to allow for people of all ages to enjoy the park without putting any neighboring properties in jeopardy. If this is a matter of disobedience or disorderly conduct, the persons involved should be dealt with properly, but they should not reflect the image of the disc golfing community as a whole.
There are many kids, college students, and career-oriented people who all have enjoyed the course year after year. By not allowing disc golf, you have not only taken away a wonderful hobby and pastime from the city, but you have sent a clear message to the people that the city is unwilling to put forth the effort to give the community a healthy outlet, that we can pass on for generations to come.
It is a cheap game. It was in a good location. It was great for the technical college. I can only imagine how the community would feel if you took away something like ice skating at Noonan Park because somebody broke a window with a hockey puck.
Please reconsider this action and restore disc golf where it has always belonged – Filmore Park. Thank you.
