Fodness is Section 8AA Speech Coach of the Year
Scott Fodness, Jefferson High School teacher and speech coach, was recently honored by his peers as the 8AA Section Speech Coach of the Year.
Scott Fodness, Jefferson High School teacher and speech coach, was recently honored by his peers as the 8AA Section Speech Coach of the Year.
Fodness has been a teacher at JHS for 36 years, serving as speech coach for 22 of those years. He was chosen as this year’s recipient at the 8AA Section tournament on April 12.
“I enjoy coaching speech,” Fodness said. “It’s an opportunity for students to build their skills and meet students from across the state.
“Many of our speech participants contact us later to tell how valuable speech experiences were in college, job interviews and simply for building confidence.
“It was very kind of my fellow coaches to give me this award,” Fodness said. “I hope speech will continue to grow in our schools.”
