They laughed. They clapped. They watched children dance. They ate food samples. They received flu vaccine. They tried to win prizes.
And they learned a few things about local businesses.
They were the hundreds of people who attended the Echo Press’ 16th annual Lifestyles Expo at the Viking Plaza Mall Saturday.
The free event, co-sponsored by Pete’s County Market and KSAX-TV, featured 71 exhibitors from the area and was deemed a success by Lifestyles Expo coordinator Karen Jennissen.
“The variety of exhibitors provided something for everyone – whether you were in the market for a new handbag, financing, a fun hotel, a massage, communications, health and wellness, a lawyer, a new place to dine, or taste testing the new deli salads at Pete’s County Market’s booth,” she said. “The exhibitors were there to fulfill your needs.”
The comedic singing duo of Tina and Lena kicked off the entertainment. Dancers from Alexandria Just for Kix performed in the afternoon. Throughout the expo, Livewire Entertainment, a disc jockey service, provided “Music on the Mall.”
Pete’s County Market added to the expo fun by encouraging mall-goers to help decide what will become the deli’s new signature salad by voting for one of three selections, after sampling them of course. The winner: the wild rice orzo pasta salad.
Plans are already in the works for the 17th annual event. It’s set to take place at the mall on April 2.
