The Alexandria Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) recently announced the hiring of Tim Urness as a part-time field staff.
Urness, who is a 5th grade teacher at Carlos Elementary, has been volunteering with the local FCA for the last nine years.
“It’s an honor to be a part of the strong FCA history here in Alexandria,” he said. “I trust that this position will help even more students and coaches get involved with FCA.”
Urness’ responsibilities will include partnering with the new YMCA to work together on programming, citywide events and summer camps. Other responsibilities will include organizing monthly huddle gatherings for Jefferson High School and Discovery Middle School, being a volunteer recruiter and helping with the 5K and half marathon, which take place on May 14 and 15.
Urness officially started on April 1 after approval from the Alexandria FCA Board of Directors and State Director Glenn Martin.
“FCA has a long history of success in Alexandria,” Martin said. “I am grateful for the support of so many to make this position possible. Tim is a perfect fit.”
Urness resides in Alexandria with his wife, Carrie, and their two children, Christian and Nora.
