The Alexandria Technical College (ATC) is offering a new course entitled “Saying Yes to No” on April 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 102.

This workshop is based on the work of David Walsh, PhD. He developed mediawise.org and has done numerous research and writings based on ways to raise healthy, self-reliant children so they can be successful in school and life.

The instructor, Nicole Boyden, a Douglas County child care provider, will address the fact that “no” is not just a one-word answer, it is a parenting strategy. By saying no when they need to, adults help children develop skills such as self-discipline, respect, integrity, the ability to delay gratification and a host of other crucial character traits needed to be successful. Four continuing education hours are available.

For further information and registration, contact the ATC Customized Training Department at (320) 762-4527.
