The annual “Give Kids a Smile” program was again held statewide in February.
A record 6,069 kids were provided free dental care from 203 dental clinics in Minnesota.
The 3,060 professional dental volunteers, including 538 dentists, provided exams, cleanings, education and treatment. In its eighth year, Give Kids A Smile has provided more than $11 million in free dental care to kids in need.
The program is sponsored by the Minnesota Dental Association.
Locally, the Caring Hands Dental Clinic provided 31 uninsured children with free dental care and education on February 5, along with some free follow-up treatment after that day.
The dollar value provided by Caring Hands exceeded $6,000 this year.
Caring Hands is a non-profit dental clinic in Alexandria providing dental care and education to citizens that are on Medical Assistance, MinnesotaCare and Headstart Programs.
