Robert “Bob” John Bitzan, 84, Millerville, died April 1, 2010.

Bob was born February 27, 1926 in Millerville Township to Albert and Caroline (Ledermann) Bitzan. He attended District 72 grade school and Brandon High School.

Bob farmed all of his life. He also did custom silo filling, corn picking and maintained township roads. In his later years, he enjoyed flying his 90 Champ plane. Bob also loved to hunt and fish. He was a charter member of the Millerville Sportsmen Club and a firearms safety instructor for more than 30 years. Bob was a 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by seven brothers and sisters, Edward of Evansville, Margaret Schmidt of Alexandria, Irene Starika of Alexandria, Bernadine Schiele of Millerville, James (Carol) of Onamia, Florence (George) Dorn of St. Cloud, Charles (Sue) of Fridley; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy; brothers-in-law, Philip Schmidt, Leander Starika and Wilfred Schiele.

A parish prayer service and a Knights of Columbus Rosary were held April 5 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Millerville.

Mass of Christian Burial was held April 6 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church with Fr. LeRoy Scheierl officiating. Pallbearers were David Schiele, Thomas Bitzan, Joel Bitzan, Mike Shores, Vera Heidermann, Randy Dorn and Bernice Dalluge. Burial was at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Cemetery.
